BINUS Northumbria School of Design Competes in the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2018
As a reputable design school in Jakarta, the BINUS Northumbria School of Design (BNSD) is given plenty of opportunities to show their students’ works. One of those opportunities is the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week that is being held from 19-23 March 2018 at The Warehouse, Plaza Indonesia.
Supported by Lucky Trend from PT Lucky Print Abadi, together with Danjyo Hiyoji, the BNSD students participated in the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week in a show with the theme “Splendor Force” on Tuesday, 20 March 2018. In this Splendor Show, BNSD presented six best works by six chosen students – Alliya Dhiachandra, Audrey Jane, Avridya Keumala, Meta Limesa, Nadia Umammi, and Sherlyta Puspa.
One of the students’ works was a ready-to-wear collection by Meta Limesa that was inspired by Indonesian culinary food. Meta conducted research about the common Indonesian cuisine that originated from China, which was then adapted into local culinary food. The results from this research then were converted into a fashion collection. Through this collection, Meta aimed to modernize a kind of Indonesian traditional clothing, Kutubaru, combined with pants with a striated motif.
“This event opens up opportunities for the students to participate professionally in international level events. The students also get a chance to advance their skills in design and motif development by utilizing the newest printing technology by PT Lucky Print Abadi,” said Ratna Dewi Paramita, the Head of the Fashion Program of BINUS Northumbria School of Design.
